In 2012, together we will take our UUI Green Sanctuary to a new level to reduce the ecological footprint of our congregation.
What is the Task of the Month (ToM) program?
The ToM program is a way to reduce your energy consumption by completing one simple task each month for a year. If twelve monthly tasks are completed, your energy savings could add up to $500 and you will have reduced your CO2 output by 9,357 pounds!
How can you participate?
To participate in the ToM program, send us an email at uuiesc (at) gmail.com. Then, each month we will send you an email with information about the current ToM. You can find additional resources in the social hall at UUI on the Green Sanctuary bulletin board. Be sure to let us know that you completed the task so you can be entered to win a gift certificate to help you complete the task for the following month.
April’s Task
Welcome Spring! Come out of hibernation and replace your old thermostat!
This month’s task asks you to install a programmable thermostat. If you haven’t already done so, it’s a great money and energy saving measure! They are easy to install and you can program it easily to suit your daily life during the week and on the weekend. You will need the following to complete the task:
- thermostat that is compatible with your heating and cooling system
- screwdriver to attach base plate and wires
- masking tape to mark wires
- batteries to power the thermostat
