Is the God of your understanding and experience a God who welcomes you into relationship and cares about the created world, or do you experience God as remote and judgmental? Is your image of God one that invites you into intimacy or one that frightens you and makes you wary?
Often, even those who don’t believe in God know what that god is like, ideas based on childhood and cultural understandings of God. Many people want God to be present in their lives, but not the one they learned about in the religious institutions of their families.
In this workshop, drawing on the work of the Rev. Jane Vennard, we will examine our ideas of God and then—through discussion, storytelling, drawing, and writing—figure out if our understanding of God needs to be changed.
This class will be held in the Social Hall from 12:30-4:00 pm on Saturday, February 18th, and will be facilitated by Pastor Stephen.
