Neighborhood Partnerships

Butler Tarkington Neighborhood Association

We are located in one of Indianapolis’s oldest and most active neighborhood groups, and periodically host meetings/programs.

Community Garden

Plots are available on church grounds to neighbors and congregants. For more information, contact Susan Pratt at pratt8460(at)gmail.com.

Indepdendence Academy

Our religious education building is home to the Independence Academy, a school for middle school, junior high, and high school students with high-functioning autism.

Tutoring

Volunteers from local Unitarian Universalist congregations provide one-on-one tutoring in math and reading during the school day for at-risk kids at James Whitcomb Riley Elementary School – IPS 43. For more information, contact Don Somers at 546-3061, donbanjo(at)sbcglobal.net or Ed Archer at 253-9770.

Martin Luther King Service Center

Canned goods are collected weekly and we support other initiatives of the Martin Luther King Service Center.

Visit the Social Justice and Green Sanctuary pages for other ways we support our neighborhood and community.
