In 2012, together we will take our UUI Green Sanctuary to a new level to reduce the ecological footprint of our congregation.
What is the Task of the Month (ToM) program?
The ToM program is a way to reduce your energy consumption by completing one simple task each month for a year. If twelve monthly tasks are completed, your energy savings could add up to $500 and you will have reduced your CO2 output by 9,357 pounds!
How can you participate?
To participate in the ToM program, send us an email at uuiesc (at) gmail.com. Then, each month we will send you an email with information about the current ToM. You can find additional resources in the social hall at UUI on the Green Sanctuary bulletin board. Be sure to let us know that you completed the task so you can be entered to win a gift certificate to help you complete the task for the following month.
May’s Task
This month’s task asks you to wash your clothes in cold water and hang outside (or inside) to dry. It’s that simple! By the way, this isn’t just a task for May. In Indiana hanging clothes outside is possible for 5-6 months out of the year. Imagine the energy savings!

On the 10th of each month we will draw a winner from those who completed the previous month’s task. The winner will receive a gift certificate to help purchase the materials for the next task!
If you have completed the task previous to the ToM program, we want to know – you are eligible for the drawing also. Email us at uuiesc (at) gmail.com to let us know you completed it, or fill out the form on ToM bulletin board in the social hall. We would love to hear about your experience completing the task, any tips or tricks you used and would enjoy sharing any photos you take!
