This is going to be such a great day at UUI!
Our preschoolers are going to hear the story These Hands by Hope Lynne Price, illustrated by Bryan Collier. They will learn how their hands can do many things, including making the world a better place. They will also be singing a song and make a fun fall craft with their hands.
Our Kindergarten - Second Graders will be reading a storybook about a modern Native American family, Thunder Boy, Jr. by Sherman Alexie, illustrated by Yuyi Morales, and playing a game.
Our Third Grade - Fifth Grade Class will be reading How Many Days to America, A Thanksgiving Story by Eve Bunting. It's a story told from a child's perspective about a family that is forced to leave their homeland for America. The class will have an age-appropriate discussion about immigration and the caravans that are coming here now from Central and South America.
Our 6th - 8th Grade Class is visiting the Sikh Gurdwara as part of their Neighboring Faiths curriculum. They will meet in the Social Hall and leave at approximately 11am.
Our 9th - 12th Grade Class will be meeting with Tim and Sam today to work on a lesson on compassion. After church we are having our annual leaf raking party. There will be a pizza lunch served. It's super fun!
I so hope you can join us! It's going to be a beautiful day!
Peace and Love,
Director of Lifespan Religious Education
