Dianna Davis’s broad musical experience has brought the different sounds of piano, voice, clarinet, accordion, bass guitar, and various drums to the UUI community. Dianna is a full-time musician who performs and teaches in the Indianapolis area and the surrounding Midwest.
While working as a full time musician, Dianna has performed in many different venues, such as weddings, contra dances, choral concerts, outdoor events, and festivals. She has worked with church and school choirs, bands, orchestras and small ensembles. Dianna’s music education began at Millikin University, where she received a Bachelor of Music in piano and clarinet performance. During her undergraduate studies, Dianna was the first student to win Millikin’s concerto and aria competition on two instruments in one year. After Dianna completed her Master of Music in Performance from Indiana University, she moved to Indianapolis to begin teaching and playing.
She is accompanist for the Indianapolis Women’s Chorus and is the vice president and talent scheduler for Indy Contra Dance. She plays and sings in several bands around the Midwest including THIN AIR (comprised of UUI musicians), the Coffee Zombies, and Iron Curtain Meltdown. Dianna’s many groups and solo performances encompass different styles of music including improvisation, Irish, swing, French-Canadian, classical, and more. She always enjoys a new challenge in music whether it’s editing a clarinet method book, arranging music, or improvising a whole concert!
