UUI Internet Privacy Policy

Revised: 10/6/2003

The first principle of the member societies of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) is that we will covenant to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person. We believe that this principle impels us to protect the privacy of visitors to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis (UUI) website.

Personal Information

We only collect personal information from our visitors on a voluntary basis. Personal information includes but is not limited to name, address, phone number, and email address. We do not require this information to obtain access to any part of our site.

The personal information we collect is only used by us to process a request that has been placed by the visitor. Such requests include the webmaster contact form, church office contact form, and other voluntary submittals of similar information for survey purposes or for event registrations.

We do not sell or rent this personal information to other organizations. However, website users should be aware that posting to UUI's online forums may result in their name and email address being acquired by other parties. UUI cannot prevent this from happening, since the forums are open to public viewing.

Use By Children

If you are under 13, be sure to obtain your parent's or guardian's permission before you send any personal information (for example, your name, address, e-mail address, etc.) to us or anyone else over the Internet. We encourage parents to get involved with their children's online usage and to be aware of the activities in which they are participating. See COPPA.

Use of Photos

We believe that the use of images of church activities and events is a valuable tool in creating an attractive, accurate and relevant on-line representation of UUI and its activities. Therefore, we occasionally include photographs taken by members of church activities on our website.

In order to protect the privacy of UUI members and friends, we generally do not provide personal identification information along with photographs. In cases where identification is warranted, it will only be included with the permission of the person or parent of the person being photographed.

If you see a photograph of yourself or your child that you prefer not be included on the site, or if you would like to insure that no photo of your child is used on the site, feel free to contact the webmaster. We'll make the necessary arrangements to comply with your request.

All copyrights remain with the original photographer. Effort is made to include credit to the photographer if known.

Use of Names

Occasionally the names of members and friends are mentioned on the website, particularly in articles from the UUEye newsletter. In order to protect the privacy of these individuals, personal identification information, such as images, phone number, address, or email will not be included with these names without explicit permission. A [name witheld] page can be linked from places where a persons name would usually appear, if someone requests that their name be removed from the website.

Offsite Links Disclaimer

Some of the links on this site lead to resources outside the UUI.org domain. The presence of these links should not be taken as an endorsement by UUI of these sites or their content. UUI makes no guarantee or warranty, express or implied, concerning the content or accuracy of any material on or obtainable from any offsite links. Please contact the website owners of those sites directly for any questions regarding their material.

Information Accuracy

UUI makes every effort to ensure that the information presented is correct and accurate. However, if inaccuracies occur, we will make every effort to correct them in a timely manner. To report any web site inaccuracies or for questions about UUI's Internet Policy, please contact the webmaster.

Updates to the UUI Internet Policy

This is a living document. From time to time, changes to this document may occur to meet the ongoing needs of UUI's online presence.
