| Home | ResolutionsAny member or group of members may present a resolution at a congregational meeting for a vote by all members. Below is the text of resolutions UUI has passed along with the date each resolution was adopted. Gun-Free ResolutionAdopted: May 19, 2002WHEREAS the covenant of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis states in part that love is the spirit of this church and that we seek to dwell together in peace and to help one another; and WHEREAS One Hundred and Nineteen (119) people died in Marion County, Indiana in 2001 as a result of homocides and Eighty-Four (84) of those people were killed with guns, (Indianapolis Star, January 27, 2002 page A-10); and WHEREAS many of the deaths occurred within five miles of the Unitarian Church of Indianapolis; and WHEREAS we seek to be good neighbors and provide sanctuary for our members NOW THEREFORE BE IT RECOGNIZED that the property of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis shall be gun-free. The church will spend the upcoming year deciding how to implement this resolution.
