Social Justice Committee

"Don't ask what the world
needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the
world needs is people who have come alive."
--Howard Thurman
The Social Justice Committee seeks to promote equality,
justice, and compassion in the local community and the world through
education, advocacy, and activism.
Recent committee activities include hosting a social justice workshop for
district youth, co-sponsoring a peace meditation with the Heartland
Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis, raising funds for CROP Walk
for Hunger, sponsoring a production of “The Vagina Monologues,” marching in
the Indianapolis Pride Parade and hosting a community conversation titled
“Divine Action: Living Like You Mean It” with environmental activist, Julia
Butterfly Hill and Seane Corn, a yoga instructor working with YouthAids.
Recent monetary donations were made to Bethlehem House, The Martin Luther
King Community Center, Horizon House, The Indiana Youth Group, and The
Julian Center.
Join us the first Sunday of each month at noon in the Cottage library on the
church campus. Visitors and families are welcome! For more information,
please contact Susanne Hinson-Rieger at 317-418-1679 or
